Swimming in Sikinos
Sikinos is one of the quietest islands in the Cyclades, a small, mountainous place between Ios and Folegandros with a handful of beaches that rarely see crowds. Its diminutive size and lack of tourist infrastructure keep it authentic and unhurried.
Meltemi winds affect Sikinos much as they do its neighbours, but the island's south-facing beaches offer reliable shelter. The coastline is compact enough that you can check conditions at multiple beaches without a long journey.
Swimming season runs from June to September. Sikinos is perfect for swimmers who want solitude — you may well have an entire beach to yourself, even in August.
